Step-by-Step Fuel Filter Installation Guide – Stihl (0000 350 3500 replacement)

  1. Drain the tank
Run the saw dry or siphon out remaining fuel.
  2. Locate the filter
Reach inside the fuel tank with needle-nose pliers or a bent wire hook. The filter is attached to the end of the fuel line at the bottom of the tank.
  3. Remove the old filter
Gently work the fuel line off the barbed nipple of the old filter. If it’s stubborn, use small side-cutters to split the old filter lengthwise — it will come off easily without damaging the line.
  4. Clean the line
Blow compressed air through the fuel line or run clean fuel through it to clear any debris.
  5. Install the new filter
Push the fuel line firmly onto the new filter’s barbed nipple until it bottoms out (about 8–10 mm). The fit is tight on purpose — no clamp needed.
  6. Position correctly
Make sure the filter sits flat on the tank floor and the pickup tube is not kinked. The weighted end should face down.
  7. Refill & test
Add fresh 50:1 mix, prime the carb, and start the saw. Check for leaks and smooth running.

Takes less than 5 minutes and instantly cures 90 % of “hard-to-start” or “dies under load” complaints.
